What hospice care includes

Under the direction of your doctor, our team provides:

• Regular nursing visits focused on comfort, and pain and symptom relief.
• Help with bathing, dressing, and daily care from hospice aides.
• Medications for comfort, delivered to the home.
• Equipment such as a hospital bed or oxygen, arranged and delivered.
• A social worker for planning, resources, and family support.
• A chaplain for spiritual support, if you want it.
• Alternative therapies offered alongside standard care.
• Support for caregivers, including respite care at assisted living facilities and group homes.
• Bereavement support for the family for 13 months after a death, with calls and mailings, and longer on request.

Who qualifies

Hospice is for people with a life-limiting illness whose doctor expects a prognosis of six months or less if the illness follows its usual course, and who choose comfort-focused care. Choosing hospice does not give up care. It changes the goal of care to comfort, relief, and time with the people who matter.

What it costs

For patients who qualify, the Medicare hospice benefit covers the hospice care related to the terminal illness. Medicaid and most private insurance also cover hospice. We check coverage with you before care starts, so there are no surprises.
